Please be prepared to fill out the application form. A limited number of travel scholarships will be available! Please indicate on the application form whether you would like to be considered for a travel scholarship.
You will be required to answer 2 questions:
- How will you benefit by attending the winter school? – please mention your background, motivation and goals (1,200 characters)
- How will you be able to contribute to the Winter School? (1,200 characters)
We also ask you to provide the name of a reference who will be required to send a reference letter. Applicants should contact the letter writer and ask them to send it to (firstname.lastname@example.org) by midnight on September 19th, 2017 (Japan Standard Time, 23:59).

Who can apply?
Graduate students and post docs (as well as senior college undergraduates or bachelor’s students who plan to start graduate studies in 2018) in the fields of astronomy, planetary science, geodynamics, seismology, mineral physics, geochemistry, electrochemistry, systems chemistry, prebiotic chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics, synthetic biology, systems biology, evolutionary biology, microbiology, ecology, origins of life, artificial life, artificial intelligence, complex systems, and related fields are invited to apply. When we say interdisciplinary, we mean it: there are no boundaries in the discipline of Earth-life science!
